A tool drivable by a sonic or ultrasonic dental holder for working on dental cavities, in which a working head (1, 21, 41, 51) is secured or can be releasably secured to an adapter shaft (2, 22, 42, 52), the working surfaces of which facing the inner surfaces of the cavity are coated with abrasive material and the shape of which is matched to that of the cavity in such a way that several to all differently oriented inner surfaces of the cavity can be simultaneously treated. The tool makes it possible in particular to make a recess in two sides of two abutment teeth facing a gap in the teeth for a bridge, into which can be inserted shoulders of a bridge of suitable size.
