PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the image reader which performs plural picture processing with a small memory capacity and has a high data output throughput. SOLUTION: The main scanning start point of magnification varying processing is stored in a main scanning start point register 11. An increment corresponding to the variable magnification is stored in an increment register 12. The number of picture elements which are outputted by varying the magnification is stored in a magnification varying output picture element number register 19. A picture element counter 15 counts the number of picture elements outputted by varying the magnification, An adder 13 successively adds the increment to the main scanning start point and outputs the result to a latch 16. A read original picture data is stored in a line memory 21, and the output of the latch 16 and the value obtained by adding one to this output value are given as read addresses. An average value calculator 23 calculates the average value of two adjacent picture elements and outputs it as data after magnification varying processing. |
