PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting projector gate which has the resolving power, program possibility, and response time that a liquid crystal array has and is thermally protected by providing an image control signal source which controls the states of pixels so as to vary a projected image. SOLUTION: A light projection device includes a lamp 10 and a reflector 12, which collaborate with each other so as to focus a light beam 50 on a programmable light pattern generator, i.e., a projection gate 14; and the projection gate 14 has the liquid crystal array and is dipped in a filter/cooling liquid cell 20. A light source 19, for example, a high-luminance 1000-watt arc lamp emits radiant energy over the band including visible light, infrared rays, and ultraviolet rays and this radiant energy is then gathered by the reflector 12, so that it travels to the programmable image generator 14 as an unpolarized and focused beam 50. Pixels of the programmable image generator 14 are activated through a driver 18 which is controlled in order by a lighting controller 40. |
