<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce economically a polymer comprising repeating units each having a quinazoline nucleus and an ether bond and being excellent in processability and thermal, mechanical and electrical properties by treating a monomer having a quinazolone nucleus having an active halogen group with a base. SOLUTION: A monomer having a quinazolone nucleus having one active halogen group, represented by formula I (wherein either R2 or R4 is OH; any one of R2 , R4 , R5 and R7 is a halogen, an o-haloaryl or a p-haloaryl; and R2 , R4 , R5 , R6 , R7 and R8 are each a group selected from among H, alkyl groups, aryl groups, alkoxyl groups, aryloxy groups, alkylthio groups and other groups not interfering with the polymerization reaction except an OH group and halogen-containing groups) is treated with a base in a polar solvent to obtain a polymer comprising repeating units each having at least one quinazoline nucleus and at least one ether bond attached to position 2 or 4 of the quinazoline nucleus, represented by formula II (wherein (x) is 2-1,000,000).</p> |
