PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain crystallized glass suitable for use as the top plate of a cooking range, having very low thermal expansion, very excellent in transparency and capable of chemical tempering if necessary. SOLUTION: This crystallized glass has a compsn. consisting of, by weight, 3.5-5.5% Li2 O, 1.0-4.0% Na2 O, 0.1-3.0% MgO, 20.5-23.0% Al2 O3 , 60.0-68.5% SiO2 , 0-3.5% ZrO2 , 3.5-7.0% TiO2 +ZrO2 and 0-4% P2 O5 and containsβ-quartz solid soln. crystals as principal deposited crystals.
