PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-resolution and high-sensitivity ultrasonic probe which shapes a sound field and can be used by a comparatively simplified electric circuit. SOLUTION: Concerning the ultrasonic probe composed of an acoustic matching layer 7, piezoelectric element 5 and back load member 8 at least, this piezoelectric element 5 is composed of a single plate having difference in the level of self-polarization corresponding to the position, and electrodes 3 separate for transmission and reception are installed on this single plate. Thus, sound field-shaped ultrasonic waves are radiated and ultrasonic echo waves are received while utilizing electric charges generated by a piezoelectric effect between the electrodes 3 dedicated to reception. |
