PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a more beautiful projected image by eliminating the difference of brightness between the center and the periphery when an LCD panel is illuminated and eliminating non-uniformity of color on a screen. SOLUTION: A light flux emitted from a light source part 1 is passed through a polarizing beam splitter 2, then is projected to a light diffusion element 4. In the light diffusion element 4, the brightest part of the light flux from the polarizing beam splitter is refracted and diffused by a prism 4a, and the light flux transmitted through a 1/2 wavelength plate 3 arranged in the polarizing beam splitter 2 is refracted by prisms 4b and 4c. |
