<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform bevel guard mounting work to an pipe end in a short time and improve fit-in strength by inserting a wedge into a wedge driving cut-and-raised part provided at a pipe end guard, and in the temporarily welded state of both, mounting a bevel guard to the pipe end of a steel pipe, and then driving the wedge. SOLUTION: In the case of mounting a bevel guard 1, serving as a pipe end guard manufactured by bending, to the end of a steel pipe, the bevel guard 1 manufactured on the basis of the inner diameter information of each steel pipe flowing in a steel pipe manufacturing line is received by a shaping device, where the bevel guard 1 is contracted into a specified diameter while being straightened in radial dislocation and circumferential torsion. A wedge inserting machine is then operated to insert a wedge 5 into a cut-and-raised part 1a of the bevel guard 1 and to temporarily weld it. The bevel guard 1 in this state is delivered to a mounting device so as to be inserted in the pipe end of the steel pipe. The wedge 5 is then driven by a wedge driving device, and temporary welding is removed to enlarge the diameter of the bevel guard 1 and to mount it firmly to the pipe end.</p> |
