<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To install a grommet on a car body only by intruding thereto and enhance the sound isolating performance. SOLUTION: A grommet concerned comprises a minor cylindrical part 11 to admit insertion of a wire harness W/H, an intermediate cylinder part 13 continued to the front of the part 11, a ring-shaped front flange 14 continued to the front of the intermediate cylinder part 13, and a ring-shaped rear flange 15 protruded outward at the periphery of the continued part of the minor cylindrical part 11 with the intermediate cylinder part 13. The parts 13 and 14 should be made of flexible material and have small wall thickness, and are inserted into through holes in a car body from outside while they are deflected. The diametric enlarged portion of the intermediate cylinder part 13 is contacted with and engaged by the inner circumferential edge of the through hole 1a in the body panel 1, and the front flange 14 is contacted with and engaged by the outer circumferential edge of the through hole 3a in the facial material 3 which is attached to the inner surface of the body panel 1 with a sound absorbing material 2 interposed, and the rear flange 15 is contacted with and engaged by the outer circumferential edge of the through hole 10 in the body panel 1.</p> |
