PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a polarizing beam splitter, to improve utilizing efficiency in a color filter using a hologram element and to provide an excellent stereoscopic video with high luminance and less crosstalk in a stereoscopic video display device by a one light system light source separated optical system using the polarizing beam splitter. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a light source, the polarizing beam splitter 5 separating light source light, a video projection part consisting of a liquid crystal panel 11 forming an image for a left eye and the liquid crystal panel 10 forming the image for a right eye and a screen 14 on which the video image from the video projection part is formed. In such a case, an elliptic lighting system (1, 2, 3, 4, 6) is used as the light source, and the polarizing light beam splitter 5 is arranged in the vicinity of the converged position of the elliptic lighting system, and the color filters 8, 9 using the hologram elements which separate the light source light into three primary color light are arranged on respective incident sides of both liquid crystal panels 10, 11. |
