PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase surface strength of a photoreceptor without any influence on other quality and so secure reliability in a long time use by forming a sur face protecting layer of a resin layer containing specific needle type conductive powder, specifying a mean diameter of the needle type conductive powder, and forming an electric path of the needle type conductive powder. SOLUTION: A surface protecting layer is constructed of a resin layer containing needle type conductive powder with an aspect ratio of 3 or more, and an electric path is formed of the needle type conductive powder whose mean diameter is set to 0.3μm or less. Basically, the electrophotographic photosensitive body is constructed of laminated layers of a photosensitive layer and the surface protecting layer on a conductive supporting base. In this case, a conductive body in itself provided with conductivity, for example, aluminum, aluminum alloy, stainless steel, chrome, titanium, plastic whose surface is coated with conductive material such as aluminum, aluminum alloy, indium oxide, and tin oxide alloy by means of vacuum deposition, and the like can be used for the conductive supporting base.
