PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To retain a lens in place without dislocation by locating the lens while its end is detained with a notch provided in a covering member, and thereby mounting the lens certainly in a rare gas discharge lamp using a simple configuration. SOLUTION: A lens 6 to be mounted in a discharge lamp 1 is composed of a long stretching lens part 7 equipped with a light condensing function and a projection 10 whose ends are made approx. in angular shape. A covering member 12 is shaped cylindrically opening in the front face and is provided at the top of its side face 12a with a notch 13 to be engaged by the projection 10, and also provided in the back face 12b with an injection port 15 for an insulating member. From this port 15, insulating member 17 is injected into the space between the inner surface of covering part 12 and the discharge lamp 1, and the lamp 1 and lens 6 are adhered fast through the insulating member 17. Thereby the lens can be retained stably in place without dislocation. |
