PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery having excellent characteristics such as water permeation, energy density, shortcircuiting, sealing strength, etc., by using a composite material of a glass cloth and an insulative resin to make fusion attachment with heat as a sealing material for battery, wherein the glass cloth is contained in the specified quantity and consists of glass fibers having a specific diameter arranged as intersecting perpendicularly. SOLUTION: A battery according to the invention is structured so that a power-generating element consisting of a positive electrode active material layer, electrolyte layer, and negative electrode active material layer is enwrapped with an exterior material. As the sealing material for this battery, a composite material prepared by mixing ansulative resin to make fusion attachment by heat with a glass cloth consisting of glass fibers of 4-50μm in diameter which are contained in a quantity of 4-10cm/m per one-meter edge of glass cloth and arranged as intersecting perpendicularly. Thus the resultant battery is equipped with excellent characteristics such as less water permeation, high energy density, no shortcircuiting, and high sealing strength of the sealed part.
