METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REDUCTION OF SERVO INTERFERENCE IN USE OF MR HEAD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce interference brought by inductive head by mounting a converter shielded and provided with a magnetic resistance element in a specified direction relating to a straight line in a radial direction widened from the center of a disk. SOLUTION: An actuator shaft 701 is maintained at an angleθ2 (14 deg., for instance) to a track straight line 607, a servo pattern 601 is provided with the skew ofθ1 to the straight line 603 in the radial direction and a head shaft 702 is provided with the angleθ3 (about 9.5 deg.) to the track straight line 607. Thus, the angleθ4 between a head and the pattern shown in the figure is about 4.5 deg. in this case. For a frequency used in the servo pattern 601, the relative skew of about 4.5 deg. between the servo pattern and the head substantially reduces undesirable interference to the half of the amplitude of an original worst case or for an amount more than that.
