PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate setting of the name at a goal when information containing points designated on map information being displayed and symbols having the neighboring coordinates is registered as goal information by setting a register operation mode at the time of starting the operation and returning back to the immediately preceding display mode upon finishing the operation. SOLUTION: When a goal designation (HP) mode is set by depressing an operating button 7b on an operating unit 7, a computer 1 begins an operation for registering a goal. Central point on a displayed map is designated and a symbol closest to the designated position is located among the symbols being read into a RAM 15 from a CD-ROM 4 along with map information. The computer 1 displays a WP mark and the name symbol at the designated positions on the screen of a monitor 2 and registers the symbol and the coordinates thereof in a RAM 14. Upon finishing the operation, the computer 1 is reset to a mode prevailing prior to transition to the WP mode. Since the name is not required to input separately, registration can be facilitated. |
