PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal projector where white balance is not spoiled even when a dichroic prism is used. SOLUTION: A 1st dichroic mirror for color separation 6A separates incident light to red light, and green and blue light. The red light is made incident on a liquid crystal panel for red light 9R through 1st, 2nd and 3rd reflection mirrors. The green and blue light is made incident on a 2nd dichroic mirror for color separation 6B through a 4th reflection mirror 7B and separated to the green light and the blue light by the mirror 6B. The separated green light is made incident on a liquid crystal panel for green 9G through a 5th reflection mirror 7F. Then, the separated blue light is made incident on a liquid crystal panel for blue 9B through a 6th reflection mirror 7C. The respective color light beams are optically modulated in the panels 9R, 9G and 9B, and the respective modulated color light beams are synthesized by the dichroic prism 10. |
