PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calibrate a plate speed detector without removing it from the installation position by suspending an endless belt having the reference length between a pair of pulleys facing the plate speed detector and rotated at a constant speed. SOLUTION: An endless belt 1 facing a plate speed detector 4 and having the reference length is moved at a constant speed to transmit the rotation of a motor having a prescribed revolving speed to pulleys 2. The revolving speed of the belt 1 is detected by a photoelectric switch 5, and the shift distance of the belt 1 is set to the reference calibration length. A laser beam irradiates the belt 1 from the detector 4 to be calibrated, the reflected light is received, and the moving speed of the belt 1 is measured by the detector 4 via the Doppler effect. This measured value is compared with the speed of the belt 1 obtained from the reference calibration length to make a zero adjustment, and the accuracy of the detector 4 can be confirmed. The laser receiving face is a plane, not a point, and no setting error occurs on a calibrating device 20.
|
