PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce time for preparation and to miniaturize information by registering index information for retrieving a document by a bit map form. SOLUTION: At the time of registering a new document to a database, a key word detection part 4 detects a key word from within this document. An arithmetic processing part 5 gives two arithmatic processings different from each other to the character code of each key word of these to calculates two bit values. At the time of receiving two set of bit position information concerning each word from the arithmetic processing part 5, a bit map preparing part 6 develops the format of a bit map on a main storage device (MM). Then the bit map preparing part 6 registers document ID of a registered document and the address of the bit map to a bit map position register table in MM. A bit map storing means and a document position register means equivalent to index files are constituted to be the bit map form like this so that the registered contents can be minimized. |
