The instruments each comprise a conical shaft (1a) with at least one helical cutting edge (2). The diameter (D1) of the tip of the shaft is different for each instrument of the set, following a predetermined first geometric progression from one instrument to the next through the set. The diameter (D2) of each instrument at the larger end of the conical shaft increases through the instruments of the set in a second geometric progression of a lesser or greater ratio than the first. Some of the instruments of the set may be formed of material different from that of the others, such that the flexibility of all the instruments is approximately the same regardless of their variations in dimensions.
