PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noises in the high speed range of engine revolutions which the driver will feel while the car is running on an up-slope without changing the shift line. SOLUTION: If it is sensed in Step S50 that the engine speed Ne in a constant speed running at the car speed Vc lies continuously within the high speed range over No for a period exceeding T, a shift-up is made at Step S51 forcedly from the favorable shift position G to the position G+1 and the running with G+1 is continued. If it is sensed in Step S53 that a drop corresponding to the set speed Vo is made from Vc, or in Step S55 that the car is in kick-down running, it is possible at Step S54 to disengage the forced up-shift and perform a down-shift such as kick-down by the shift control using a shift map in accordance with the running conditions. |
