Process for controlling discs

A disc is directly illuminated so that a coating layer on the disc reflects the light. The disc may be a compact disc or a CD-ROM. The degree of reflection of the reflected light is determined and intermediately stored. The detected value is compared with the corresp. values for a comparison disc. The comparison results are used to determine whether the disc is in order or defective according to the preset tolerance limits.
