摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device in which the content of a decoded image is grasped even on the occurrence of an error in an image encoder/decoder and an actual transmission speed allocated to an image signal is less reduced. SOLUTION: The coder side uses a hierarchical processing section 102 to apply hierarchical processing to coded image information depending on the importance of a content to be sent and uses a code provision section 105 conducts processing or the like for error correction and error check coding with different protection capability for high and low transmission importance selectively. On the occurrence of an error, an error control section 106 conducts re-transmission control and coding control in the unit of signals of each hierarchy. The receiver side decodes coding data for each hierarchy via an error correction section 111 and an error check re-transmission control section 110 or the like for hierarchical signals and builds up again the decoded image from the signal subjected to hierarchical processing.</p>
