PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize bi-directional communication while a moving picture is compressed/expanded on a real time basis by compressing and expanding a moving picture signal on a real time basis in a compression/expansion period and transmitting compressed picture data in two directions in a non-compression period. SOLUTION: A synchronizing signal generation circuit 54 generates a vertical synchronizing signal synchronized with a first moving picture signal. A compression part 47 generates first compressed picture data by compressing the first moving picture signal in the compression/expansion period of the first moving picture signal and stores data in a first compressed data memory 51. An expansion part 48 reads second compressed picture data from a second compressed data memory 52 and expands it. Thus, a second moving picture signal is generated. A control part 49 permits data transfer between the first and second compresses data memories 51 and 52, and an external circuit in the non- compression/expansion period except for the compression/expansion period in a scanning period regulated by the vertical synchronizing signal. |
