PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an erroneous judgment from being made with regard to failures in an outdoor fan motor and a fan motor driving circuit. SOLUTION: This control device comprises a fan motor 1, a driving circuit 2 for driving the fan motor 1, a control circuit 5 for controlling the driving circuit 2, an abnormality detecting circuit 3 for detecting an out-of-step and an overcurrent of the fan motor 1 and a headwind detecting circuit 4 for detecting headwind against the fan motor 1. An abnormality signal is transmitted to an indoor unit only when an abnormality are detected not less than specified times in an outdoor unit, and a judgment that the fan motor 1 and the driving circuit 2 have failed is made only when the abnormality signal is received more than one time.
