An adhesive for sticking labels on containers, e.g. bottles, contains at least gelatine, one or more polysaccharides expanding in water and a polar solvent. Also claimed are: (1) methods for attaching and removing labels using the adhesive described above; and (2) an apparatus to remove labels from containers, attached using the adhesive described above, consisting of a transport and units for heating and humidifying, removal and disposal.
