A method of producing a device for fixing optical fibers, comprising the steps of disposing a glass shaping pre-form having the shape similar to the shape of a product as viewed on the plane and having the shape which describes the flat surface or an outward curved surface when positioned in a pressing direction at the time of press molding, inside a mold having a cavity of a predetermined shape; and heating the glass shaping pre-form to a moldable temperature so as to form at least one ridge comprising a free surface. This method eliminates the drawbacks of such a device machined in the prior art that the production cost is high and mass-production is difficult.
