PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which is inexpensive and small-sized and where the influence of astigmatism is reduced. SOLUTION: White light from a light source 1 is separated into three primary colors light by dichroic mirrors 4 and 5. Respective primary colors light separated is intensity-modulated in accordance with a video signal by liquid crystal panels 7, 13 and 15, and the respective primary colors light is synthesized by the dichroic mirrors 9 and 10. Then, field lenses 8 and 16 correcting the astigmatism are arranged on the light-emitting sides of the liquid crystal panels 7 and 15, and the astigmatism caused by the dichroic mirrors 9 and 10 is corrected by the field lenses 8 and 16. Synthesized light is magnified and displayed on a screen by a projection lens 11. |
