<p>A constant-current/constant-voltage battery charger which can safely charge a lithium ion battery. The battery charger is provided with a power source circuit which supplies electric power, a chopper circuit which controls the charging current (i) and the battery voltage (v), a charging voltage detecting circuit which detects the charging voltage, a charging current detecting circuit which detects the charging current (i), a battery voltage detecting circuit which detects the battery voltage (v), a charging current calculating circuit which calculates the charging current (i) from the detected battery voltage (v) and charging voltage, and an arithmetic circuit which outputs a control voltage (a) for controlling the battery voltage and charging current (i) according to the detected battery voltage (v) and calculated charging current (i), and a voltage-controlled oscillator which outputs oscillation control (b) having a frequency corresponding to the control voltage (a) to the chopper circuit.</p> |
