Sensor for the detection of unburnt hydrocarbons, and including a catalytic surface at which a chemical reaction may take place in the presence of the catalyst, where the reaction influences a semiconductor device that in this way can deliver a signal, at which the sensor for the elimination of other disturbing sources to which the sensor is sensitive are detected by means of one or several additional essentially similar sensors where however the actual sensor function has been blocked so that these additional sensors or parts deliver signals corresponding to possible disturbances.
