<p>A fluid filter (10) having a hollow, molded, plastic housing (12) with an open end, a fluid inlet port (20) and a fluid outlet (22). An internally threaded, plastic, molded cap (14) is threadedly received on the housing (12) via mating external threads (56, 58) for sealing the open end of the housing (12). A cap seal (60) prevents fluid contamination of the threads (56, 58). A removable filter element (38) is contained within the housing (12) between the fluid inlet (20) and the fluid outlet (22). A molded, resilient, plastic retainer (44) captured between the cap (14) and the filter element (38) retains the filter element (38) in position within the filter (10). If the filter element (38) is of a bag filter type, as compared with a filter cartridge type, the retainer (44) has a plurality of resilient legs (46) which press down upon a bag mouth seal (40) forcing it into contact with a flared mouth of the bag support (28).</p> |
