A method of monitoring the pressure of a vacuum interrupter (VS) in which ultrasound waves are passed from an ultrasound transmitter (USS) into the vacuum interrupter (VS) and are reflected (RUS) in the latter from whence the ultrasound waves are received by an ultrasound receiver (
