摘要 Water treatment process for the absorptive elimination of pollutants from water or waste water uses active carbon granules which are either biologically regenerated from time to time within the same assembly (simultaneous or quasi-simultaneous processes) or within a separate regeneration unit (consecutive process). The novelty is that: (a) the process passes through an aerobic or an anaerobic regeneration phase with a check on the intermediate products; (b) the regeneration process is monitored using the on-line pH values, oxygen consumption, the by-products and the isothermal absorption profile; (c) ideal conditions are formed for the formation of the biofilm by regulation of the pH value, the introduction of nutrients, Co-substrate and O2 during the aerobic phase; (d) ideal conditions are created minimising the regeneration time by the factors described in (c) and the use of adapted microorganisms; (e) the biofilm is removed after regeneration using hot steam and/or oxidising agents; (f) O2 is introduced without bubbles during the aerobic phase through a silicon rubber membrane; (g) to minimise operating costs and the volume of effluent air, only that amount of O2 is introduced to the system which is required for the biological breakdown (dead-end operation), toxic substances or difficult waste substances are dealt with using a sequencing batch reactor, and (h) depending on the nature of the pollutants, the gases are generated either internally or externally.
