Speed governor for disc reducing in diameter, such as grinding wheel

The governor has a friction gear wheel (2) whose circumferential edge is in contact with the circumference of the disc (3). The wheel is pressed against the edge of the disc by a pressure exerter (4). The gear wheel rotates and friction causes the grinding disc to rotate at a speed close to its own. The high contact pressure between the disc and the wheel ensures very little slippage takes place in the drive. The circumferential speed of the outer edge of the disc is not dependent on the diameter of the disc.
