2,3,6,7-Xanthene tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride(II): R1= trifluoromethyl or phenyl; R2= H, methyl or ethyl; R3, R4= methyl, ethyl or hydroxy; n= interger more than 2 and 4,4'- diamino diphenylether were solution-polymerized to give polyamic acid(IV), followed by the ring imide reaction to give the polyimide resin(I). Thus, 130 g of 9-phenyl-9-trifluoro-methylethyl-carbonyl silyl -2,3,6,7-xanthene tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride was stirred to 150 deg.C in 300 g of dimethylformamide, and cooling to 15 deg.C, followed by addition of 4,4'-diaminophenylether at 25 deg.C for 20 hours to give polyamic acid. The polyamic acid was suspended with 24 g of beta-picoline for 5 minutes to give the polyimide resin.
