Epoxy coating suitable for protecting valuable works of art

The surface-protective layer is suitable for pictures, esp. hand painted works, on a flexible, porous substrate and/or canvas. The coating (11) is applied directly onto the picture surface (13) to be protected, and takes the form of a thin, flexible, glass-clear epoxy resin layer. Pref., the epoxy resin layer is comprised of resin 162 with accelerator HP 500. A plasticiser is included. The surface is smooth and/or roughened and/or has a relief. The even, or uneven thickness is <= 10 mm. Also claimed is the corresponding procedure forming the layer, generally as described.
