The carrier is made from a synthetic material, and has a central carrying handle which can be moved between highest and lowest positions. The handle has limbs (24) which engage in the carrier, or the carrier has guides (25) for these limbs, which have a stop (28) which limits the extent of the sliding motion. The stop is able to move, and is spring-loaded. The lower end section of one limb may have one or more slits with parallel axes, and may have a spring-loaded lug which projects in the radial direction. The guides for the limbs may be arranged on the inner surface of the carrier walls, and the handle may also have a T-shaped grip with a limb which is guided in the middle of the carrier.
