The windscreen washer liquid heater has a liquid reservoir (1) with jets (7) to propel the liquid onto the windscreen. A pump (2) feeds liquid from the reservoir to the screen. a heater (3) for the liquid has regulators (4) to control the temperature of the liquid to be projected dependent on the speed of the vehicle. The regulators selectively mix heated liquid with that fed direct from the reservoir at ambient temperature. Sensors are provided for the vehicle speed and liquid temp.
