This novel thermoplastic moulding has at least one welding section. This includes a resistance wire (4) heating element, which is used to form a welded joint with inserted pipe sections (2, 2a). The original feature of this moulding is that it contains a data storage system, with a transmitter and a receiver. Data identifying the moulding, and the specified welding data are stored within (6) the moulding itself. Also claimed is a method of welding thermoplastic parts as described, in which the welding process is carried out automatically on the basis of the stored welding specification.
