Folding roof for passenger cars

The folding roof has a rigid section (7) supported on its two long sides by a column guide rod (9). A spring-loaded swivel flap (18) is provided in each connecting area (16) between the column rod (9) and the rigid cover section on the side of the rigid section facing the occupant. The swivel flaps are attached rotatable on the cover section and are coupled to the adjoining column by automatic guide device. Each flap in the closed position of the roof runs flush with the adjoining contours of the column guide rod and rigid cover section. The flaps move automatically from the closed to release position when the cover is swivelled back.
