Torque estimation method using evaluation of internal combustion engine revolution rate for engine control

The method involves using a sender wheel and an associated transducer for detecting the crankshaft speed by evaluating teeth time intervals. The measured teeth times are subjected to a correction taking into account the noise influences in detecting crankshaft speed and to a filtering depending on the operating point. From these the variations of the gas moment acting on the crankshaft, and contg. information about the combustion process, are estimated. Characteristic parameters for the combustion process are derived from the estimated variations of the gas moment.
