PURPOSE:To obtain a binder which is not carbonized even by heating in a nonoxidizing atmosphere by using methacrylate polymers contg. specified methacrylates as monomeric units and specifying the content of polymers within a specified mol.wt. range and the ratio between polymers on the low mol.wt. side and polymers on the high mol.wt. side. CONSTITUTION:This binder consists of methacrylate polymers contg. >=90wt.% methacrylate units of butyl methacrylate, a methacrylate contg. a cycloalkyl group, methacrylate contg. a hydroxyl group or a methacrylate having >=8C alkyl side chain at the beta-position and having >=70wt.% content of isobutyl methacrylate units, 10,000-60,000 number average mol.wt. and 0.1-10 acid value. In this binder, polymers having 1,000-1,000,000 mol.wt. account for >=90wt.% of the total amt. and the weight ratio between polymers having <=150,000 mol.wt. and polymers having >150,000 mol.wt. is (1:1)-(5:1). |
