A plastic warranty strip (3) is arranged at the lower edge of a screw cap (1). Webs (20) form an approximately horizontal tearing line along which the warranty strip may be separated from the screw cap (1) when a container closed with the screw cap (1) is opened for the first time. A bulge (8) provided on the screw cap (1) form-fittingly engages a bulge (4) on the container mouth (2). The warranty strip (3) also has at least one approximately vertical predetermined breaking point (11). A stress-relief zone whose elasticity increases towards the lower edge (19) of the warranty strip (3) is arranged next to the predetermined breaking point (11).
