Aligning tool for joining tongued and grooved boards for e.g. flooring

The tool (10,11) has a long body (14,15) with a constant cross-section (16,17) and surface profile (22,23). The body has at least one right angled corner (24,25) parallel to its longitudinal axis with an adjacent area of its surface (28,29) shaped to compliment the tongue (8) or groove (7) and short vertical part (6,5) of the end face of the board (1a,1b). The tool has a corner area appropriately shaped to fit the tongue or groove on the free edge of the board to be fixed; it is placed on to the board edge. Hammer blows are applied to the tool, which distributes the force on to the board edge. The tool serves to hold the board in place during fixing.
