A covering film, to prepare surfaces for painting and the like, is a woven film material with symbols and/or image printed on at least one surface. The film material is of polyethylene, polypropylene or another polyolefin, polyester, soft polyvinyl chloride resin, Japanese paper, crepe paper and other transparent or opaque materials. Also claimed is a manufacturing process where at least one surface of the film is printed or the characters/image are produced by glow discharge. The material is wound in a roll to be held in a cylindrical dispenser with a cutting edge at the outlet slit.
