Disclosed is a method to separately edit and record within a VCR system. The method comprises steps of displaying, setting, determining and executing. In the displaying step, the contents of viss signal recorded in a control track are displayed. In the setting step, the editing and booking record are set according to the viss signal which presents the state of recording. In the determining step, it is determined whether the set values are in accordance with the viss signal or not. In the executing step, the edited recording is performed to the image area corresponding to the viss location, and if the set values are accorded with the viss signal. Thereby, the connection area between musics is well processed, and rerecording and editing are able to be easily performed.
