In a first step, a feeding gaseous flow containing achrolein, water, acids and inert gases, and which is mainly produced from oxidation of propylene to form gaseous achrolein, is fractionated into a gaseous effluent and a liquid flow in a cooling column working in such a way so that the temperature of the liquid flow at the column base is lower than, or equal to, the condensation point of said gaseous mixture, the temperature difference being not higher than 20 degree C. In a second step, said gaseous effluent is condensed to a temperature lower than 20 degree C to obtain a liquid fraction and a purified gaseous fraction.
