The 6V, 120Ah battery has its casing (2) divided into compartments (9) by sidewalls (12). Positive and negative terminals (6,7) are carried on the cover (3). The material of the casing is a blend of polyaminocaprolactam (-NH-(CH2)5-CO-)n or another polyamide (-NH-(CH2)6-NH-CO-(CH2)4-CO-)n with preferably 20 to 50 wt.% of either polyethylene, polypropylene or a copolymer. The permeability to H2 is ≤ 400 cm<3>/m<2>/day measured at 25 degrees C on a 100 mu m film under absolute pressure of 2 bars and relative humidity 75%. Permeability to O2 is ≤ 150 cm<3>/m<2>/day measured in the same conditions.
