DISTILATION EQUIPMENT

This piece of equipment is used mainly for the distillationof sea water and producing fresh water. It includes multiplebellows-like elements (3) made of thin plastic sheets positionednext to each other. The elements serve as heat-exchangers betweenthe evaporating liquid running along the external surfaces of theelement and the condensating vapours directed toward the interiorof the element. A compressor (15) incleases the pressure and thetemperature of the formed vapours before they directed towards theinterior of the elements (3). In the upper end of eachbellows-like element (3), there is an end strip (4) of cellulartexture along its width, containing parallel feeding passages (23)separated from each other by partition walls. The passages (28)distribute the evaporating liquid along the entire surface of theelement (3). The strip (4) can contain passages (25) directing thevapours to be condensated towards the interior of the elementalong its entire width. In the lower end of the element (3) theremay be an additional strip (7) of cellular texture the passages ofwhich would collect the produced distillate into a receivingvessel (8) and discharge the unevaporated the liquid into areceiving tank (9).
