FIELD: optical fibres doped with resonant agents for modification of characteristics of ultrashort light pulses passing through it. SUBSTANCE: additives of resonant agent in optical fibre are distributed with formation of a transverse section of concentration of resonant additives, whose form is determined by formula: $$$, where $$$ - index of refraction in the waveguide axis; $$$ - relative difference of indices of refraction in the waveguide core; $$$ - difference in pulse carrier frequency from the center of the absorption line; $$$ - half width of heterogeneously spread spectral absorption line; C - velocity of light in vacuum; $$$ - minimum value of pulse length; $$$ - transverse coordinate r normalized to core radius $$$. EFFECT: stabilized propagation of ultrashort light pulse with desired transverse section of intensity at distances considerably exceeding the limit attained, when media homogeneous in transverse direction are used. |
