A modular bathroom unit has a half floor supported by joists and a half floor without joists. The modular bathroom unit is installed in a hole in the wall of an existing building with the joist half out of the building and the other half in the building. The modular bathroom unit includes bathroom fixtures which are tied into existing plumbing and electrical connections within the existing building.
